Domestic Violence

Brief

Create a visually intelligent resource for health professionals dealing with domestic violence that moves away from the overused, image-led approach of abused women.

Solution

Abandon preconceived notions and stereotypes to create a resource that connects with the audience in a new and visually compelling way. Use a typographical approach, taking inspiration from a wide range of historic design influences - Russian constructivism, Communist propaganda and Penguin books - bringing a new dimension to the area of domestic violence.

Comment

DomesticViolenceLondon.nhs.uk was established as part of a yearlong demonstration project for health services and domestic violence. Using a strong typographic visual framework, Raw have produced an eye-catching and engaging website and poster campaign which has helped promote a difficult and challenging topic to health professionals across London.
Justin Varney, Joint Assistant Director of Health Improvement
