Save the best for last...

15th July 2009

As we mentioned earlier this year, we were lucky enough to win two IPA Best of Health Awards, with the big event being held last Thursday (9th July) in Camden. All the Raw team decamped to London town ready to enjoy the fine cuisine at Gilgamesh and take to the stage to accept our gongs.

After a delightful feast and a good chinwag with our clients, NHS Barking and Dagenham, we waited with baited breath as the bronze, silver and gold winners were revealed. Our Children and Young People Engagement Campaign was awarded silver in the Consumers/Patients Mixed Media Campaign category, fending off competition from big budget, national campaigns, such as the recent Stroke Awareness campaign.

In the Consumers/Patients New Media category www.badhealth.nhs.uk was awarded a bronze, alongside Langlands’s Real Danger campaign. Saving the best until last came the Best in Show categories and Best Use awards, in which we applauded Mother Advertising and Langland, only to hear our own name called out for Best Use of illustration, which caused lots of jubilant cheers and a mass exodus to the awards podium to celebrate.

A hefty dose of celebratory dancing followed, and even through our lingering hangovers we are very proud of the achievements that both ourselves and NHS Barking and Dagenham have made in engaging children and young people in the borough.

Here’s what Justin Varney, Joint Assistant Director of Health Improvement, had to say about our recent success: ‘We are really proud that the partnership work between NHS Barking and Dagenham and Raw Design has produced award-winning social marketing campaigns, which are having a real impact on the lives of local people. The innovation and creativity of the partnership is helping us to engage residents in new ways to inspire healthy choices and healthy lifestyles.’
